  1. This is release 3.0.1 of Excalibur, November 11, 1999

  3. Excalibur is a freeware spelling checker for the Macintosh that is
  4. also LaTeX aware.
  5.  
  6. Features include:

  8. - Excalibur will offer suggestions for how to correct a word.
  9.  
  10. - Excalibur can spell check the clipboard. This makes it a good
  11.   spelling checker for any text based application such as Alpha or
  12.   SimpleText.
  13.  
  14. - Excalibur also works with Eudora, BBEdit, MT NewsWatcher,
  15.   ClarisWorks, WordPerfect, and any other program that supports Word
  16.   Services.
  17.  
  18. - You can teach it about new LaTeX commands and environments that you
  19.   define.
  20.  
  21. - You can create your own dictionaries.
  22.  
  23. - Works on any plain TEXT file.  (type TEXT)
  24.  
  25. - Works on formatted files via Word Services.

  27. - You will need System 7.1 or higher, a Power Macintosh, and the
  28.   Appearance Manager to run Excalibur.

  30.   Version 2.6 of Excalibur is still available too.  It will run on
  31.   System 6.0.5 or greater, and it will run on any Macintosh since the
  32.   Mac Plus.

  34. - There is balloon help.

  36. - The "Standard Dictionary" (American English) distributed with
  37.   Excalibur has over 161,000 words.

  39. - Dictionaries for atomic elements, British English, Catalan, Danish,
  40.   Dutch (both old and new spellings), French, German, HTML, Italian,
  41.   life sciences, Manx Gaelic, medical terms, Norwegian, Portuguese,
  42.   Spanish, and Swedish.  You can get these from
